Group Bookings & Private Dining at Karma Indian Bistro

Indian food is built for a table rather than a plate — dishes go in the middle and everyone reaches. That makes it the easiest cuisine in the city to feed a group with, and it's why a party of twelve with four different diets is a normal Friday here rather than a problem. We're a Michelin Bib Gourmand kitchen at 2741 West 4th Avenue with a dining room, a heated patio and a full bar, and we take everything from a large table to a full buy-out.

The part that usually goes wrong

Half your table vegetarian? Nothing to arrange

This is the thing that makes group bookings painful everywhere else. Someone is vegan, someone else is gluten-free, and the restaurant needs pre-orders a week out or produces one sad plate of grilled vegetables.

Here, nine vegan curries and nine vegetarian curries are on the regular menu, at the regular prices, alongside tandoori vegetables and paneer tikka. Nine vegan and nine vegetarian curries are on the regular menu, alongside tandoori vegetables and paneer tikka. Vegan and vegetarian dishes are marked on the menu, making it easy for groups to order across different dietary preferences.

Practically, for a group: order across the whole menu, put everything in the middle, and the vegetarians eat the same meal as everyone else rather than a version of it.

One thing to tell us. If anyone at the table has an allergy — particularly nuts, since several curries are cashew-based — say so when you book and again on the night. Our kitchen is shared, so we'd rather talk it through than guess.
